This course is designed to provide participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to safely and effectively handle, shoot, and care for a shotgun. This course is intended for beginners as well as those who have some experience with shotguns but are looking to refine their technique and improve safety practices.
This course is structured to introduce key shotgun concepts, ranging from safe handling and maintenance to practical shooting techniques. It includes both classroom instruction and hands-on training, with an emphasis on safety, fundamentals, and the ethical use of firearms.
Course Duration:
– 8 or 9 hours (classroom + range time)
Prerequisites:
– Students 17 years of age or younger require a parent or guardian present during the course.
What to bring:
– Shotgun (Optional): 20 Gauge recommended
– Minimum of 25 rounds of Target Load Shotgun Ammunition
– Clothing appropriate for outdoor weather conditions
– Eye and Hearing Protection
What is provided:
– Private shooting range access
– Required shooting targets
Firearm / Ammo and Equipment Requirements:
– If bringing your own firearm, it must be fully functional, have all factory-installed safety devices intact, and have no dangerous modifications (such as a “hair” triggers less than 4 pounds, removed trigger guard, etc.).
– Factory ammunition is required, NO reloads.
– If you do not have a shotgun, a 20 Gauge shotgun and ammunition will be provided for this course.
– Electronic hearing protection is recommended and is available at numerous retailers.
